In China, Angelica Sinensis extract, commonly known as dong gui (当归) or “female ginseng” is a herb from the family Apiaceae, Angelica sinensis grows in cool high altitude mountains in China, Japan, and Korea. The yellowish brown root of the plant is harvested in fall and is a well-known Chinese medicine used over thousands of years. Radix Angelica Sinensis is applied in TCM for tonifying blood, activating blood, alleviating pain, regulating menstruation, and moistening intestines.
Z -Ligustilide is a major component of Radix Angelica Sinensis and reported to have anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive effects.
